Revel in the beauty of the Romanesque church in San Donato on this challenging bike ride.
Point of departure and arrival: Colle Val d’Elsa
Difficulty: challenging
Distance: 35-40 km
Total climb: 660 m
Road surface: asphalt
Type of bike: road bike
Type of cyclist: amateur cyclists and tourists

The route starts in Agriturismo Nerbona towards Colle di Val d’Elsa. At Le Grazie turn left following directions for Borgatello and later for San Gimignano, passing by Pietrafitta to avoid the busy road which is the most direct route to the town.

After a tour around the walls of the tower-filled town leave in the direction of Castel San Gimignano – Volterra. On this undulating road we recommend a short detour to San Donato, a medieval town with a beautiful Romanesque church. At Castel San Gimignano, turn left and take the road to Colle Val d’Elsa (11.2 km) on the SS 68, passing by Campiglia dei Foci. Returned to Le Grazie, taking the intersection on the left towards Casole d’Elsa to coming back to the start, the Agriturismo Nerbona.
